Our Microteaching (1st Group)

I have time to upload photos and update the blog finally! I am still doing my last assignment before the term ends..Hmm...Talking about our microteaching.. We had hard time thinking of what to do for our table setting, especially me, as I had never done table setting before. At first, we wanted to set the table with the theme of Valentine's Day. However, we did not prepare well for the table setting during our microteaching practice. Luckily, it was a microteaching practice and we managed to come out with design during the weekend. Thanks to Shahidah and Sham as they went to Mustafa to buy the decor for our table setting. During the practice, I learnt to arrange 3 food items on the same plate as food looks interesting when it is presented in sets of odd numbers. Since our topic is on Rice and Alternatives, we had the almost same colour- brown colour for all our dish. Hence, Sham put green rocket leaves on his pizza to make it looked more interesting. I used tomato as a container for sauce and added parsley to garnish the sauce. Thanks to Miss Chin for teaching us the platting techniques=).

On the other hand, Fiona served her lemon drizzle cake with a British high-tea setting. She used lemon and strawberry slices to add colour to her cake. Shahidah arranged the prawns in set of 3 and used red chili to garnish her dish on a heart-shaped plate.

In conclusion, table setting is very important as human beings are visual animals. We get attracted easily by beautifully decorated table settings and it also helps in stimulating us to have better appetite to eat. We also learnt alot from other groups on table setting techniques=). Below is the link on tips to present food like a chef.
